WITCHING HOUR LINE: temporarily out of stock

A lot of people have been asking me what's going on with The Witching Hour line and why it's out of stock/if it will ever come back.  I figured I'd make a little post to clarify a few things.

The reason why it's out of stock:  The fabric I have since switched over to has run out of stock.  I am working hard at finding either a replacement fabric, or seeing if it will ever come back in stock.  I should know if the current fabric will be back within a few weeks........

Stay patient all, I'm doing my best to push through this as quickly as possible and get them back online asap.


I have tried a few other fabric options, and one seems semi promising.  It's a bit more expensive material, but is really comfy and soft.  I'll keep you posted on where things are headed.

I have been working on some new designs that will use organic bamboo blend materials....I'm pretty excited to see how it all turns out!

Just like the rest of the world, I tried to be a bit optimistic about the upcoming year and write a few goals for myself.  So far I've sketched....worked out/swam....started blogging again....made some granola bars....

I'd say it's an ok start.

This phone my brother got me for christmas....the eyes light up when someone needs to buzz up to my apartment....so rad!

The new shredded muscle tanks!  Super happy I finally made these and replaced the old tanks.  In time I may add tanks back in...but for now....tees and muscle tees it is!

NEW YEARS QUESTIONARE

A bad habit I’m going to break:
Not giving myself enough time for myself.  And actually using my downtime for something more productive.  I've definitely been a victim of the winter hibernation weather......

A destination I’d like to visit:
L.A.  (which i'm going to in February!)

I’m going to work harder at:

Building SOVRIN.  Working harder on designs, and creating full lines.  Also, making time to workout/swim.

A project I’d like to finish:
The new SOVRIN line!

A class I’d like to take:
Yoga......I'd also like to become more advanced in illustrator and photoshop....so taking a few classes would be nice!

I’d like to spend more time doing:
Drawing/anything artistic.  Also I'd like to try and get outdoors more in the summer.  

A food I want to eat more of:
I want to make more smoothies.  I've only just started making them again....but this time I'm using a lot of kale, spinache, ginger, and other veggies to mix in with the sweeter fruits.  

I want to wear more:
Dresses and dressy clothes.  I have a tendency to wear jeans and tees/tanks a lot just because most of the time I'm working in my studio as opposed to being out in the real world!

PRINTING SOVRIN: BEHIND THE SCENES

Today my sister was super great and took photos of me while I was printing.  Even though I resisted a bit at getting my photo taken (I really despise getting my pictures taken) I am happy she did take the photos.  Prior to printing, I had always been curious at the process behind it.  So I figured why not show everyone a little bit of a behind the scenes peek at how I print SOVRIN

Here is a photo of some of my positives.  I use these to align my screen on the press/pallet.

Here is the screen lined up on the press.   Once the screen is fully aligned, I put gloves on (ink is very messy) and dish up some ink on one part of the screen.

After the ink is set up, I can start printing.  It's very important to make sure the shirt/garment is perfectly aligned....this can sometimes be the hardest part.  Just being a quarter of an inch off can result in a major fail.

On the first print, I usually like to double/triple/quadruple check my alignment at the collar prior to printing. (I can be a bit of a perfectionist)....not to mention a mistake is a loss of a garment and money.

Once I feel confident that the screen is properly aligned, I use the squeegee to start printing.  This process is both easy and difficult at the same time.  An even amount of pressure must be used, the right amount of pressure, and too little ink can result in streaking....not enough pressure can result in a messy print and ink thats piled up/uneven.  Just when you think you have the process down, something will throw you for a loop and and you can add another thing to the list of "things I learned today"

Once I'm done applying the ink, I can take the garment off the pallet and I lay it somewhere flat or just where it can rest without it's fresh ink being touched.

Here are a few printed tees that are drying. 

This is my flash dryer, this is what "cures" the ink.  Basically it's what sets the ink, so that you can wash/wear your new clothing!

OUTFIT

A LOOK INSIDE MY APARTMENT

I recently moved into my own place, and I absolutely love it.  It's so nice waking up and not having to talk to a single person, and just be in the company of my cat.

It's just a studio apartment, but it has a washer/dryer (in my closet!), washer/ice maker (having lived in older apartments, ice makers are GOLD), underground heated parking (saves my little mini's freezing bum) beautiful patio overlooking willy street....oh and it's in my favorite part of madison....the Willy street neighborhood.  It's been my dream to live in this area for the longest time but rent is pretty steep in madison so it's taken a bit to get a good place for a reasonable price.

Anyways, I've adapted well to this size apartment, and it's actually a perfect size.  In time I'd love to upgrade so I can have my studio/printing/art space in another room, but that's just hopes for now.

Here are some photos of what I've done with my place so far, I'd still like to add more artwork into the place (above my bed) but it will come in time.
